My new puppy is coming in for an appointment what can I expect?
Puppies come in several times over the first 6 months for a series of vaccines and exams. Depending on your puppy’s age, the appointments can vary slightly.
At 8 weeks
- A complete exam (nose to tail) to be sure everything looks, feels, and sounds the way it’s supposed to
- Weight check
- A fecal analysis to check for any intestinal parasites
- Begin a Distemper (DHPP) Vaccine series (1st of 3)
- Discuss any questions or concerns, including general puppy care and training
- Dispense Interceptor for heartworm prevention
- Dispense Credelio for flea and tick prevention
- Begin de-worming protocol. Dispense Drontal to be given at 10 weeks to follow CDC de-worming protocol
