My Cat is coming in for his/her annual exam, what should I expect?

It is important to see your cat every year for an exam to completely evaluate his or her health and well being.  Annual exams for cats vary slightly depending on if your kitty stays strictly inside, or enjoys some time outdoors as well. This is what you can expect at your cat’s annual exam if he/she is less than 7 years old.

 

For Indoor Cats:

-          A complete exam- check from nose to tail, including:

o   Checking eyes, ears, mouth and teeth

o   Heart and Lung Sounds

o   Feel abdomen

o   Check temperature

o   Weight check

-          Discuss any questions or concerns

-          Update vaccines: Rabies, Distemper (FVRP)

 

For Outdoor Cats:

-          A complete exam- check from nose to tail, including:

o   Checking eyes, ears, mouth and teeth

o   Heart and Lung Sounds

o   Feel abdomen

o   Check temperature

o   Weight check

-          Fecal analysis to check for intestinal parasites (if able)

-         Discuss any questions or concerns

-         Update Vaccines: Rabies, Distemper (FVRP), Feline Leukemia (FeLv)

-         Pick up Frontline for flea/tick prevention and treatment

-         Pick up Profender for routine de-worming every 3 months
